In a World saturated with non-profits there is an understandable wariness among donors: how will their money be spent? The larger the organization the more is allocated to salaries and administration. EXPERT-EXCHANGE is lean and focused and can therefore apply a guaranteed 90% of donated funds directly to the target project. Because we believe all great humanitarianism must start at home, we further maximize donation-impact by only underwriting motivated magnanimous individuals who will in turn help their families and communities. EXPERT-EXCHANGE focuses on small donations to implement large results.
I completely understand the frustration with giving to organizations that have big budgets and executive directors with handsome salaries. So my personal promise is that EXPERT-EXCHANGE is never going to pay out your hard-earned monies to executive paychecks. EXPERT-EXCHANGE will always be a non-profit committed to allocating entrusted funds properly to underwriting grassroots projects that directly improve quality of life for those in need.
How does EXPERT-EXCHANGE do this? We do this by serving as 1) a risk assessor to identify and evaluate great candidates, 2) acting as a mediator between you the philanthropist and your selected candidate, and finally 3) mentoring the candidate to manage their sponsorship and achieve the goals. Our ongoing micromanagement insures correct expenditure, the optimum results and a final report on the outcomes. If you are traveling in Cambodia or anywhere in SE Asia then reach out to me if you are moved to give. I look for deserving individuals who crave an education, who are ambitious and hard-working and who harbor dreams that will improve the quality of life for many others. Education, nutrition, medicine, hygiene and communications are all elements of a developed-world standard that are easy to facilitate, and the best part is that this is all possible with small donations. Keep an eye on our upcoming PROJECTS page to see how frugal philanthropists are changing people’s lives in a big way.
If there’s a cause you’re passionate about, rest assured that I am your guy on the ground to get the job done. We at EXPERT-EXCHANGE look forward to empowering outstanding young people with your prudent gifts!
It has been an amazing year for EXPERT-EXCHANGE. There have been many lessons learned and some major cognitive progress also. This November brings two volunteers to EXPERT-EXCHANGE who will be initiating their own project in Cambodia.
Overall, there is absolutely no shortage of things to do in Cambodia for volunteer work. The question that I had - and what took a while to figure out - is what to do? I had great ideas coming from my team in the States, but our cultures are so different. It would be naïve of me to push western values onto Khmer culture. Firstly, I needed to understand them and their needs.
Unfortunately, unthinking generosity is not always the correct thing. For example, many folks will volunteer and believe they are helping, but do not understanding the bigger implications of the project they have undertaken. The ripple effect can cause more issues than lasting benefits when we don't understand a culture and their beliefs. After a year on the ground I can assist in a way that is now useful. EXPERT-EXCHANGE needed the benefit of groundwork and cultural understanding so that funds can be allotted most effectively for all.
This year will certainly be more full-on and project orientated. The research and ground work has been laid, now it is time for implementation and for volunteers to join. Thanks for everyone’s lasting support and be sure to check out the PROJECTS page of the website in the weeks ahead - there you will be updated with videos and stories of ongoing initiatives starting in the middle of November.
