Due to several donations Expert-Exchange was able to provide much needed assistance to two families in Tapang, Cambodia. This project was very rewarding. Our mode of transportation was not ideal for traveling 25k, but we were able to get the 20 kilos of rice, school supplies, and a bicycle to Tapang all by motorbike!!!
The background stories in this community are powerful and Expert-Exchange will be doing long term work here. The majority of the families are extremely poor. The main source of income is migrant construction work, which means that the children only see their parents a few times a year. Not getting into details to much, but migrant construction work is very dangerous and low paying. The attitude and drive of the parents is very inspiring to see their hard work and determination for their children's future. Expert-Exchange will always work and support communities who have the drive to work hard and see the next generation become more successful with job opportunities via education.
Veha whose mother works construction, takes care of his 3 other siblings on top of going to school each day. His father passed away and his mother is the families only source of income. She makes $4 a day and desperately wants her children to be able to get an education to have a good job in the future. Expert-Exchange provided school supplies, rice, and a bicycle for Veha and his family.
Thatt whose mother works in Thailand doing construction lives with his grandmother. Thatt only gets to see his mother twice a year. Expert-Exchange provided Thatt and his extended family with rice and school supplies.
Expert-Exchange was able to assist the local school and put more kids into school this week due to a generous donation from New Look Planet. New Look Planet sponsored multiple children to go to school in Siem Reap. This week Expert-Exchange was able to provide education and assistance for part of their donation by putting children into school. We also provided much needed supplies to the local school that the children are attending.
This week we put 2 children into school, gave them full uniforms and supplies. On top of that we also provided supplies to the school in Siem Reap we are working with right now. Thank you to New Look Planet for their generous support.
We are still seeking support for other ongoing projects. Right now in Cambodia there is a severe drought going on and water in some rural areas is running out. Literally, wells are drying up and people are going without water. Expert-Exchange is looking for donations to provide water to these areas in need.
This week we will be going back out to Tapang and assessing their demands. We also would like to start assisting in helping villages after storms that destroy their homes and infrastructure. Areas in Cambodia have been crippled by high speed winds and ruined their homes. In the future if we can get enough support, we will start assisting in clean up and rebuilding.
